CVE North America and CS Energy reach operational status for their first two projects in New York State
Fredonia, NY, January 16th, 2024 – CVE North America (“CVE”), an independent solar power producer based in New York, in collaboration with their engineering, procurement and construction provider CS Energy, have announced the commencement of operation for their first two solar installations in the state of New York. These two community solar projects, located in Fredonia in the town of Pomfret, have a combined capacity of 10.8 megawatts (MW) and will provide bill savings to over 2,000 low and moderate-income subscribers in the region. These projects are part of a 22 MW portfolio of four community solar projects in western New York executed by CVE and CS Energy.
The two solar arrays represent a significant milestone in CVE North America’s commitment to distributed renewable energy solutions and CS Energy’s expertise in high-quality solar project construction. They are the first of CVE’s projects to start operation in New York. The projects are aligned with the state’s ambitious renewable energy goals and highlight the successful collaboration between CVE North America and CS Energy.
“CVE is thrilled to see these projects come to life,” said Ben Dereume, Technical Director of CVE North America. “They are not only a testament to months of hard work from CVE in collaboration with CS Energy, but also a significant milestone in our mission to bring more clean energy into the grid and provide cost savings to communities who need it the most.”
“We are thrilled to see these projects successfully turned on,” said Lance Dunning, Vice President of Business Development at CS Energy. “Even more, we are proud of our partnership with CVE and our mutual commitment to providing communities across New York State access to clean, sustainable energy. We look forward to continuing this work across New York with CVE.”
As part of the New York Value of Distributed Energy Resources (VDER) program, the projects will be community solar installations and distribute solar credits and bill savings to low and moderate-income residents across the region. This initiative is a cornerstone of CVE’s commitment to advancing clean energy equity and ensuring that the benefits of renewable energy are accessible to all. This approach aligns with New York’s broader goals of transitioning to renewable energy in an inclusive and equitable manner.
In addition to delivering cost savings to New York State residents, these projects will also contribute to the state’s ambitious goals of reaching 70% of electricity from renewable sources by 2030, as well as the Governor’s target of 10 GW of solar capacity by the same year. Additionally, these projects will offset greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to removing 2,400 gasoline-powered cars off the road per year, or planting over 18,000 trees.
The Fredonia community solar projects are an essential part of CVE North America’s broader strategy to expand its renewable energy portfolio across the United States. The projects will contribute significantly to the local economy by providing clean energy jobs and supporting community development.
