CVE Group: Championing a New Vision for Energy as a Certified B-Corporation
CVE North America, a leading community solar developer, is proud to announce our recent B-Corp certification as part of our parent company, CVE Group’s commitment to social and environmental impact. As a mission-driven international company, we are dedicated to positively contributing to society through sustainable business practices.
Our Commitment to Social Responsibility and Environmental Stewardship
Since the inception of CVE, we have aspired to create a significant shift in our collective vision of energy. We are committed to shaping an energy future that puts humans and the planet at the forefront. Our mission – “Placing humans and the planet at the heart of tomorrow’s energy” – is the bedrock of all our operations and strategic decisions.
Over the years, CVE North America has made strides in promoting environmental stewardship and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). We are firm believers that CSR should go beyond mere buzzwords and truly reflect in our actions. We take pride in our community outreach initiatives having donated to several organizations and volunteered with many.
Our Path to Becoming a B-Corporation
CVE North America is proud to be part of an international community that is shedding light on the relationship between society, the environment, and business. As a B-Corp, we are subject to rigorous external assessments of our current impact and look forward to benefiting from B-Corp’s action recommendations to continue improving our processes.
Our decision to become a B-Corp is a testament to our commitment to creating societal value alongside economic value. We believe that our mission-driven status, combined with our B-Corp certification, illustrates our dedication to creating a sustainable future.
The B-Corp, or Benefit Corporation, certification is an international accreditation awarded by the non-profit B Lab to businesses that meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. It is recognized as the gold standard for companies striving to balance profit and purpose.
To become a B-Corp, a company must undergo an assessment process that scrutinizes its entire operations, ranging from its supply chain and input materials to its charitable giving and employee benefits. It must also legally embed its commitment to a purpose beyond profit in its company bylaws. This comprehensive evaluation ensures that certified B-Corps are genuinely committed to considering stakeholder interests, not just shareholders.
Companies must earn a minimum score of 80 out of 200 on the B Impact Assessment, which evaluates five key impact areas: governance, workers, community, environment, and customers. CVE received a score of 97.5.
We believe that being a responsible corporate citizen is about more than just environmental conservation. It’s about fostering a strong team spirit and having a positive impact on the communities we serve. Our volunteerism and stewardship efforts have led us to partner with local organizations such as the Westchester Parks Foundation for environmental initiatives. We are also proud adopters of the Lenoir Preserve, which we support through annual donations and consistent volunteering.
Through our Green Initiative, we have dedicated ourselves to promoting environmental resilience and awareness in the communities we work within. For every solar panel we install, we donate $1 to a local nonprofit organization committed to land and water conservation, local wildlife protection, biodiversity, and education in sustainability and clean energy. We have donated over $95,000 to organizations local to our solar projects so far. And are constantly looking for new ways to support the communities we serve.
Our Future As a B-Corp
As we move forward, we are excited to enhance our commitment to being a positive force in society. Our B-Corp certification signifies that we are part of a dynamic, international community committed to the balance between society, the environment, and business. With this new milestone, we reaffirm our mission to place humans and the planet at the heart of tomorrow’s energy, today. We thank our employees, customers, and partners for joining us on this journey toward a sustainable future.
