CVE North America’s 2024 Volunteer Day at Lenoir Preserve

CVE North America at Lenoir Preserve June 4th 2024

On June 4, 2024, CVE North America celebrated its annual volunteer day by giving time and energy at Lenoir Preserve to support its long-standing partnership with `the Westchester Parks Foundation (WPF) . Since 2019, CVE has been dedicating time and resources to promote biodiversity and safeguard native plant life at the Lenoir Preserve, a beautiful 40-acre nature preserve in Yonkers, NY. This year was no different.

Our 43 dedicated employee volunteers spent the morning removing and managing approximately 5,600 square feet of various invasive plant species, including Mugwort, Multi Flora Rose, Mile a Minute vine, Wineberry, Porcelainberry, and Japanese honeysuckle. Through our collective efforts, the team contributed nearly 65 total volunteer hours, valued at more than $2,000, to help preserve the natural beauty of Lenoir Preserve.

Following a morning of hard work, the team enjoyed an outdoor lunch together and dedicated the afternoon  to team-building activities, reinforcing our belief in fostering not just strong community environments but also robust team dynamics.

Since adopting the Lenoir Preserve in 2019 as part of the “Adopt a Park” program, CVE North America has shown steadfast commitment through regular volunteering and an annual donation of $5,000. Our contributions have ranged from planting trees to constructing a sugar shack for local maple syrup enthusiasts, enriching the Lenoir Preserve for all visitors. This event marks yet another milestone in our ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement.

Looking Ahead:

CVE North America remains eager to sustain its partnership with the Westchester Parks Foundation and work towards our shared mission of environmental stewardship. Our community engagement initiatives aim to inspire more people to contribute to combating climate change. This partnership also supports the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, specifically Goal 15 (Life on Land) and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), highlighting our broader commitment to global sustainability efforts.

As we look forward to more years of collaboration, we are committed to protecting and enhancing our parks, trails, and open spaces for future generations to enjoy. Stay tuned for more updates on how we are working towards a cleaner, greener future.
